MicroCover MicroCover glass fiber insulation is designed for hot pipes with temperatures up to 450°C. It maintains heat within pipes and protects workers from direct contact with heat. MicroCover products are straight tubes with a central hole to fit steel or copper pipes. Each section is 1 meter long for easy pipe length calculation. Operating Temperature MicroCover glass fiber insulation has a wide operating temperature range of -18°C to 450°C. It’s typically used for high-temperature applications due to its relatively stable thermal conductivity at higher temperatures. Thermal conductivity Thermal conductivity is crucial for hot water pipe insulation. Lower thermal conductivity means thinner insulation can be used, reducing product cost. Glass fiber insulation is suitable for pipes below 450°C due to its low and stable thermal conductivity. After insulating pipes, a jacket is installed to protect the insulation and prevent water or rain damage. If the jacket leaks and water penetrates to the pipe surface, steel pipes can develop red rust when exposed to water and moisture. If left untreated, this can lead to corrosion over time. Glass fiber insulation for pipe systems incorporates innovations to prevent water penetration. When rain falls or water drips on the insulation, it forms droplets on the surface, similar to a car windshield coating in rain. The water doesn’t adhere to the surface and evaporates naturally.
