The Caxixi music shaker is a traditional percussion instrument handmade in Ghana from sundried elephant grass woven onto a cut and dried gourd base. It contains small pebbles or seeds which make different sounds depending on whether they hit the grass sides or gourd base. The bell shaker is large (for adult hands) in size and is used by percussive musicians. It also makes an interesting display curio. SAFETY: This instrument is not suitable for babies as it contains small pebbles that could cause choking.
