Mudcloth is a unique West African traditional textile art form. Also known as Bògòlanfini or Bogolan, mudcloth was pioneered by the women of Mali’s Bambara culture centuries ago with patterns symbolising their cultural heritage, environmental knowledge, wealth, relationships and status. Hand picked cotton is cleaned and hand-spun into thread. Traditional hand-looms are used to weave strips of fabric which are then sewn together into larger pieces of fabric. Blue colours are derived from indigo dyes made from the Indigofera plant family. 100% cotton | This fabric is NOT colourfast and cannot be washed in water. Dry-cleaning is recommended.
